A triple bottom line approach
underscores our sustainability commitment
The South Gobi Cashmere Project is rebooting the cashmere supply chain by giving the herders more access to market information, together with education and awareness, that will improve their capacity to benefit from the market.
The aim is to improve animal husbandry practices to consistently produce a higher quality of cashmere, while reducing the number of goats on the rangelands. Coupled with income diversification, this will increase the income for herders, improve the quality of the rangelands, and reduce the competition between domestic animals and wildlife.
